SUMMARY:December 2026 concert
DESCRIPTION:December 5th : Brahms Requiem and Christmas\n\nBrahms\, Ein Deu
 tsches Requiem\nSullivan\, Overture di Ballo\nHeinrich Schütz\, Selection
from Christmas Oratorio (Historia Der Geburt Jesu Christi)\n Carols arr.
Ledger and Willcocks\n\n	 \n\n	The concert features Brahms's uplifting an
d deservedly popular German Requiem\, his longest and largest ensemble wor
k for chorus\, orchestra\, and soprano and baritone soloists. Unlike a lo
ng tradition of the Latin Requiem\, Brahms's Requiem\, as its title states
\, is set in the German language.\n\n	 \n\n	Sullivan's Overture de Ballo
with its sparkling dance themes introduces a lighter mood as Haslemere Mus
ical Society leads the audience into the festive season with settings of w
ell-loved carols and extracts from Schütz's Christmas Oratorio.  HMS's D
ecember concert is typically a sell out so book your tickets early to avoi
 d disappointment.   \n\n	 \n\n	James Ross conducts.\n\n	 \n\n\n\n	 \n
