Max Bruch's Violin Concerto No 1 in G minor is one of the most popular violin concertos in the solo violin repertoire. It will be performed with Elfida Su Turan, the exciting Turkish violinist, as the soloist.; The other two works in the Concert are the Overture in C by Fanny Mendelssohn - one of the few works attributed to her because of the limited opportunities available to female composers in the nineteenth century. Her younger brother Felix completes the programme with his Symphony No 3 'Scottish' which was inspired by the Romantic poetry of Ossian and Sir Walter Scott during a walking tour of Scotland.
